Summer…a teacher’s favorite word…that and free. Days full of Pajama pants, being able to stay out pass 7:00 pm and still be able to function the next day, sleeping in, and most importantly zero…and I mean zero…lesson planning. But even though you want etch all things “teacher” from your mind…on your “imperative, quintessential, crucial, mandatory…” 3 months of tranquility…’TEACHER THOUGHTS…still linger.
“What’s my classroom theme for next year?”, “This year I’m going to do….”, “I wonder if Billy is working on his summer reading?”, and my all-time favorite, “I can use this in my classroom next year.”
So by the time your 3 months of summer ends, your stuck with random knick-knacks, school supplies, and containers (what is it with my infatuation with containers: buckets, boxes, jars, etc…you name it???)
On one of my many trips to the Dollar Tree/Target (dollar area), I left with this…

And created these…Randomized Calling holders or decorative elements for your room.

- Wrap/Cover the pencil holders in any decorative duck tape that you want (preferably something related to your classroom theme, i.e “Animal Theme”)
- Place numbers or letters on the front of your covered pencil holder, by taping it down with clear tape.
- Optional: You can add ribbon and other accessories to accentuate you theme, preferences, or ideas.
Until my next trip… Happy Teachering!!!
